Blaze Destroys Office Tower: BluArc Communications and Natural
Convergence Hosted Communication Service Uninterrupted
OTTAWA, Oct. 10, 2008 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- BluArc Communications, a
supplier of communication services to small businesses (SMB's) in
Canada, provided uninterrupted communication services following an
office tower fire.
A blaze heavily damaged a downtown Ottawa, Canada office building,
leaving most tenants without power or communication services -- using
Natural Convergence's (NCI) silhouette hosted VoIP application,
BluArc's customers maintained phone coverage throughout this
emergency situation.
"silhouette enabled us to provide uninterrupted communications," said
Jay Swayze, CEO of BluArc Communications. "Providing business
continuity and disaster recovery services to SMB's is a key part of
our value proposition."
Three of BluArc's customers, including the Canadian Co-operative
Association (CCA), were able to continue to operate while neighboring
businesses shut down.
"Our communication service was uninterrupted -- it's a miracle," said
Norma Jones, Director of Finance and Administration for the CCA,
"Relying on the twinning and the emergency call override features, we
were able to continue operating virtually -- business as usual."
"silhouette's proven ability to provide business continuity services
in emergency situations gives service providers an edge over their
competition," said Patrick Smith, Chairman and Chief Executive
Officer, Natural Convergence and Chairman of Frost & Sullivan award
winning Wavesat Inc.
Built to replace premise based SMB voice equipment such as key
systems and small PBX's, silhouette is a carrier grade, hosted
software solution. Specifically designed for service providers to
address the 5-50 employee small business market, silhouette's
familiar features and functionality make it simple to sell, simple to
deploy and simple to maintain. The solution used at BluArc also
featured tight integration of Mitel phones, including the 5212, 5224
and 53XX series, which ensure simple operations and deployment
whether during first install or in emergency situations.
